MODELING A WATERFALL AND USING PARTICLE SYSTEMS
A Project by Angel R.

Project Overview

Project Overview: My goal for this project was to create a detailed model of a lamborghini Gallardo, but half way through I relized I would not hve the time to finish modeling the car due to set backs, because of this desicion I decided to make a landscape with a waterfall. My new goal was to make a video render of a realistic waterfall set in a landscape with trees.

Software Tools: 3ds Max 2009, Macomedia Fireworks 8

Final Video Render Time: About 72 hours

System Specs: 2.13Ghz Intel Core2 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO video card

Project Timeline:

Activities and Accomplishments
WEEK 1 Complete reasearch and finding materials, start fixing blue prints/ possibly start modeling the car
WEEK 2 Finish / finish blue prints
WEEK 3 Start modeling car
WEEK 4 Project changed to Landscape modeling. Model landscape
WEEK 5 Use particle system to make waterfall
WEEK 6 Create flythrough of camera
WEEK 7 Do mapping and texturing
WEEK 8 Rendering
WEEK 9 Generate graphics and video, create project website

My thoughts on this project :

Making the car definatly had to be the hardest modeling project I have ever done it took all of my skills to do and was definatly hard. The thing that made the project so difficult was the fact that the the blueprints didn't work at first so that slowed me down but after that i was able to get to work, but by that time completeing a whole car was not a possible option so my project changed.

I decided to make a waterfall because it seemed a fun project using particle systems and learning new skills. This project helped me learn new skills and showed new tools that i can use. Ground wiz was definatly a big help in helping me make good textures and being able to make a good amount of trees in very little time. Overall the project ended being good and I learned new techniques.
